Instructions

Thank you for applying to the Stand Up 8 Standout Leader Award. We applaud your efforts toward education and leadership, and we wish you much success.

The Stand Up 8 Foundation will honor the Standout Leader of 2019 with a $2,500 cash award. A panel of five judges will determine the Standout Leader considering qualities of leadership, compassion, scholarship, and excellence.

The award is open to high school students in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County who graduated in 2018 or who will graduate in 2019. Applications will be accepted until March 1, 2019. The award will be announced on June 1, 2019.

Award application materials comprise:

  • Application form

  • Essay

  • One letter of recommendation

  • High school transcript

Applications must be received in entirety by the deadline of March 1, 2019.

Award decisions

A five-person panel of San Mateo and Santa Clara county leaders will consider applications. Judges are looking for outstanding leaders who have contributed to their communities, exhibited outstanding leadership, and who pursue scholarship with excellence.

Please be sure to send transcripts and reference letters by the deadline.
